Anchoring Trendlines to Meaningful Swings

· Arun Willow

Financial chart with trend overlays

A trendline only earns its keep when the anchors reflect structure the market has already shown. Touch counting without hierarchy invites decorative geometry: lines that look neat but collapse at the first genuine break.

Start by marking swing highs and lows that change the short-term narrative—points that later price respects or rejects with intent. Secondary wiggles stay unlabeled until they prove structural.

Once anchors are set, draw lightly. Revisit the line after each significant break of structure. Revising a line is not failure; it is how structure literacy stays current.
